Bean soup with ham is a hearty dish from Ireland. Crispy bread is served with it. Cut the walnut ham into large cubes, place in a pot and cover with water. Bring the water to the boil briefly and drain to remove excess salt. Add 1 litre of fresh water. Peel potatoes and carrots, dice coarsely and fill into the pot. Clean leek, cut into rings and add. Peel, dice and add the onion and garlic. Put the thyme in the soup. Put on a lid and bring to the boil briefly. Reduce temperature and simmer for 20 minutes. Rinse the beans until no more foam forms and fill into the soup. Add the cream and season with pepper. Cook the bean soup with the ham for another 10 minutes. Sprinkle finely chopped parsley over the beans soup with ham.
