Vegetable onions have like the household onions or food onions a brown skin. They are much bigger - like an apple. Originally the vegetables onions come from Spain. Their taste is very mild and only slightly spicy. It is also more digestible than the spicy household onion. Therefore, vegetable onions are more suitable for eating raw, e.g. in salads. Vegetable onions, however, should not be bought on large stock.
