Vanilla Sugar

Vanilla Sugar

Vanilla sugar is made from normal household sugar, which is mixed with ground, genuine Bourbon vanilla or natural vanilla flavor. In contrast, vanillin sugar is mixed with the artificial flavouring vanillin. In my recipes I use the name Pkt for package as a quantity specification. By that I mean the small bags of vanilla sugar with 8 g content. Vanilla sugar can also be made by yourself. If you only need the vanilla pulp for a recipe, you can put the empty pod in a jam jar and fill it up with sugar. Close well and wait a few days. The vanilla aroma is transferred to the sugar. If the glass is refilled in time, the pod can be used more often.
