Sweet soy sauce

Sweet soy sauce gives Asian dishes a strong sweetish spicy taste. Sweet soy sauce is dark brown, almost black colored and thicker than the light salty soy sauce. They are used, among other things, for marinating or dipping. Sweet soy sauce is enriched with sugar and malt and matures longer than light soy sauce. This gives it its viscous consistency and sweetish aromatic taste. Japanese soy sauce is usually milder than Chinese soy sauce.
