Star Anise

Star anise consists of the seeds pods of the star anise tree, which look very decorative like small stars. Stern Anis is not only used for seasoning tea, punch and other hot drinks, but also for decorating desserts. In Chinese cuisine, star anise is used for dishes from the wok. Star anise is cooked as a whole and removed from the dish before serving. The taste is spicy, slightly bitter and reminiscent of fennel and liquorice.
