Powder Sugar

Powder Sugar

Powder sugar is also called dust sugar in Austria and Bavaria. Powder sugar is very finely ground and sieved white sugar. It is used for sugar glazes or for dusting cakes, cookies, stollen or fruit desserts. Powder sugar lumps easily at humidity, which is why it is usually passed through a fine sieve. If you don't have a powder of sugar in your house, you can grind smaller amounts of sugar in an electric coffee grinder or in a universal grinder.
