Nutmeg nutmeg (English nutmeg, French nutmeg) Noix de muscarde, ital. Noce moscata, span. Nuez moscada) has the advantage over nutmeg as a powder that the aroma is always released only when rubbing and thus tastes more intense and does not evaporate so quickly. The hard nutmeg is best grated with a fine lemon grater. Its taste is spicy to pungent with a slightly bitter note. Nutmeg can last up to 4 years if kept airtight, dry and dark.
