Mango Chutney

Mango Chutney originates from India (chatni = spice jam). It is a sweet-sour spicy sauce with a consistency reminiscent of a mush. Mango Chuthney is cooked from fresh mangoes like a jam, but also contains whole pieces of fruit and vegetables. Mango Chutney is sweetened with sugar and acidified with lemon juice or vinegar. Many spices such as pepper, salt, turmeric, curmin (cumin) and coriander round off the taste. Ginger and chillies are also frequently used for seasoning. In India, mango chutney is served with spicy curries, for example. It is freshly prepared with every meal. But there are also cold prepared Mango Chutney, where the ingredients are only pureed.
