Cornichons (English Gherkins, French. Cornichons, Italian. Cetriolini sott'aceto, span. Pepinillos en vinagre) or pepper gherkins are so-called grape gherkins, approx. 6-9 cm in size, which have not yet fully grown. They are pickled in vinegar and pepper. Cornichons are quite firm in the meat and are particularly suitable as finger food on the cold buffet or as a side dish with sausage or cheese sandwiches. Cornichons are also popular in salads. The small gherkins are particularly suitable for decorating cold cuts and cheese platters or for canapés.
