Bananas (English Banana, French Banana, Italian Banana, Spanish Plátano) belong to the banana family. Bananas become up to 20 cm long and 4 cm thick. The seedless, slightly curved seed fruit has a bright yellow skin which is pentagonal when ripe. It is very easy to peel and protects the cream-coloured sweet flesh underneath. Since bananas are very sensitive to cold, they should never be kept in the refrigerator.
