German Recipes

To describe recipes as typically German is not always clear. Also in Germany every landscape or region has its typical specialities. However, there are recipes that cannot be assigned to a specific region such as Northern Germany or Southern Germany. They have evolved through the many different cultural influences and are probably eaten throughout Germany with small changes in the ingredients or form of preparation. Sometimes one and the same recipe has different names from region to region, and it is difficult to assign which region this recipe is typical for. These recipes we have then summarized under the heading Germany.
