For making mulled wine choose a red wine you would like to drink normally. So you don't get a headache the next day if there were one or two glasses more than expected.
Pour the red wine in a small pot and add freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Add a slice of an untreated lemon, cinnamon stick and clove. If it's a dry wine use a little bit sugar. Heat the wine; don't bring it to a boil. Serve in a heat proof glass mug.
