Orange Shortcrust Cookies




Ingredients:
250 g / 8.5 oz

75 g / 2.5 oz

baking powder
sugar
eggs
Vanilla sugar
margarine, unsalted
Orange extract
orange peel
egg yolks
cold water

Serves 30 - 73 cal per serving
Prep-time: 15 min. - Total-time: 30 min.
Mix the flour with the baking powder (1 tsp leveled) and sugar. Add egg an vanilla sugar (1 envelope vanilla sugar equals 7.5 g / 1/4 oz). Now add unsalted margarine, a little orange extract and the zest of an untreated orange; knead the dough until it easily comes of the sides of the bowl and a ball forms. If necessary knead with your hands. On a floured working surface roll out the shortcrust until 1 cm / 1/2 inch thick. Using a star shaped cookie cutter cut out small stars. Put the stars on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Mix the egg yolk with water and brush onto the cookies. Bake in the pre-heated oven at 180 C / 355 F for about 15 - 18 minutes on the middle rung. Remove the Orange Shortcrust Cookies together with the parchment paper from the tray and let cool.
